Vehicle Description
HIGHLIGHTS:
• 1974 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, believed to be a true 60,000-mile car
• Believed to be a 3-owner vehicle with strong originality throughout
• White exterior with white vinyl top and striking red cloth interior
• Largely original paint with touch-ups and some repainted areas
• 350ci V8 paired with a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission
• Dual exhaust, power front disc brakes, power steering, and rally wheels
• Beautiful original interior condition
• Very original car with great presentation!
BODY OVERVIEW:
This Monte Carlo embodies the personal luxury coupe formula of the 1970s with its long hood, graceful lines, and formal roofline. The body is very clean and straight, showing the careful stewardship of its few past owners. The vinyl top is in good original condition and complements the car nicely, though its white finish has mellowed to a softer off-white tone over time. The vinyl top fits nicely and lays flat around all the edges. Chrome and trim are in nice original condition, though buyers should note the top of the front bumper shows more age than the rest.
PAINT CONDITION OVERVIEW:
The paint is largely original and tells the story of a car that has been enjoyed but respected. The white paint looks great, but it is important to keep in mind that most of it appears to be original. Expect some age-related imperfections such as minor scratches, chips, and areas that have been touched up or repainted. Overall, it shows nicely and presents in a way that only a mostly original car can.
INTERIOR CONDITION OVERVIEW:
The red cloth interior is a standout feature and is in excellent original condition. Combined with the white exterior, the red interior really pops! The seats, carpets, and door panels reflect the car’s low mileage and careful ownership. Everything inside feels period-correct and well-preserved, with only minimal signs of use such as minor wear on the steering wheel. This car is very comfortable and all the gauges work as they should. Last but not least, a Custom Autosound retro-modern stereo has been installed in place of the original stereo (though the original is included).
MECHANICAL OVERVIEW:
Under the hood lies a 350ci V8 paired with a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission. It fires up easily, runs smoothly, and delivers the kind of relaxed cruising power Monte Carlos are known for. The dual exhaust adds the right amount of growl without being overbearing. Power front disc brakes ensure confident stopping power, while rally wheels complete the look. Power steering makes this Monte a comfortable cruiser! A Rare Rides employee took this vehicle on a 4.5 hour road trip! Buyers should note that the air conditioning is not operational.
WHAT YOU’LL LOVE ABOUT THIS CAR:
• Highly original and well-preserved example
• Excellent red interior that shows beautifully
• Clean, straight body with a true survivor vibe
• Smooth-running 350 V8 with dual exhaust soundtrack
• Great mix of originality and drivability
WHAT YOU MIGHT HATE ABOUT THIS CAR:
• Original paint has normal age-related imperfections
• A/C is not working
• Vinyl top shows some age
• Front bumper chrome shows some age
DOES IT NEED ANYTHING?
• A/C repair
• Tires are from 2016–some buyers may choose to replace prior to taking on a longer trip
